DescriptionMy name is Greg, I live in Dublin and I am 56 years old [although I feel abut 30!!] I sit down at my piano [very old baby grand] as often as I can and often within minutes I can have a catchy melody of sorts, scratchy but something is usually there and I don't let go until I get something that is either a potential verse or chorus or some flow that is worth keeping and not discarding. when you know, you just know ... I record it on various apps I use on my phone and listen to it a ton of times and then have a few ideas of where to go next when I sit down again with this piece. Usually I will work it and work it for days [not a lot of time per day as I run my own business and have a busy family] -- eventually I have a full melody and am happy enough to send to close contacts by phone for feedback which is generally good, I imagine a powerful vocalist singing the melody and me accepting the Grammy for song of the year . I usually begin a new piece before I decide to write lyrics to my last piece with few exceptions. This is not because I have issues with writing lyrics, its just I am drawn to sitting down to come up with the next piece which gives me enormous satisfaction, …creating something from nothing, I occasionally will use Logic Pro or Grageband to enhance the piece usually with strings and keyboards and some of them are really nice if I say so myself I thought I would join this platform to meet potential other like-minded writers who are in the same sort of boat as me - having lots of ideas, some very good - but not seeing them them though to completion - just starting another one. I thought if I have someone else [even on the other side of the world] i will be obliged to see it through with that person and that (full completion) is exciting. i am especially interested in big ballads with epic hooks and choruses, simple but thought provoking - I am less interested in fast upbeat numbers. I am pretty average on piano but I know my way around, I am an average singer but I can hold my own and have a great ear for key and tone, I know how to build and grow a song. I don't have studio experience but I am more interested in the creation of the song as the most important aspect .... the tech guys can help enhance it later in the studio but the bare song is the most important thing. I have great potentials that could be great finished songs and feel teaming up with a like-minded writer who might be in the same boat, could be a fantastic opportunity. I have no interest in paying or charging for anything collaborated.

Dreams & AmbitionsI dream of writing songs that get me really excited and sharing them with everyone, I am less interested in what other people think and more interested in my progress as a writer and I value the opinion of those whom I value musically, Yes I would love to write a string of number ones, but that is unlikely given my choice of weapon [slow ballads] in today's market although I do believe there is still a gap in the market for really strong ballads sung by powerful vocalists ... Ideally I want to finish quality songs from start to finish and thought having a colab partner might help me do that as I would hate to let someone down who is as invested as me in something this worthwhile . I know I have a talent for this but feel I am letting myself down not working hard enough at it. I also love the idea of having someone I admiore and respect to bounce ideas off and being able to take their idea and run with them myself and seeing how that plays out with the other person, I am sure that it will make me work harder and be more disciplined and ultimately, better at this craft.

EquipmentI have lots of music apps on my phone that I record my pieces and discard them earlier versions when I get the final version which I keep [and then move on] I use Logic Pro [not as much as I should as I prefer to sit at the piano I need to invest in a crash course in Logic Pro so I know how to best enhance my melodies from just bare piano. I have a few microphones which I use to record the piano to Logic Pro I use Garageband as well sometimes to enhance some piano pieces [usually with strings, I love strings] I can play drums and sing a little and am a beginner at acoustic guitar
